Robert Michael Stec, the son of Robert and Isabelle (Celmer) Stec, was born on March 16, 1946, in Schenectady, New York. He attended Hudson Valley Community College after graduating from Bishop Gibbons High School.
In August 1966, Robert enlisted in the United States Army. He held the rank of Specialist 5 and served with Company D, 402nd Unit, 5th Special Forces Group, Medical Division. On January 3, 1969, while engaged in combat operations, Robert was killed in action when his unit came under attack. He is buried in St. Adalbert Cemetery, Rotterdam, New York.
