On July 8, 1921, Robert Stanley Cherry was born in Schenectady, New York. Before joining the military, he held positions with the Wallace Company, Maqua Company, and General Electric Company.
Robert enlisted in the United States Army on October 10, 1942, and attended Camp Croft in South Carolina for his basic training. He held the rank of Private First Class and served with the 126th Infantry Regiment, 32nd Infantry Division. On December 11, 1944, Robert was killed in the Philippines during combat. He is buried in the Manila American Cemetery and Memorial, Philippines.
