World War II (1939-1945)

Robert William Mott was born in the town of Duanesburg in Schenectady County, New York, on May 8, 1922. After 1930, he lived with his family in the town of Princetown, which is located in Schenectady County. He attended Draper High School in the nearby town of Rotterdam, also in Schenectady County. Before entering the military, he worked for General Electric.

In October 1942, Robert enlisted in the United States Army. He completed his basic training in South Carolina. He was a staff sergeant serving with Company M, 128th Infantry Regiment, 32nd Infantry Division. In February 1943, he was sent overseas to oversee heavy artillery repair, and on August 6, 1944, while attempting to rescue a wounded fellow soldier, Robert was killed by enemy fire from a machine gun in New Guinea. He is buried in Evergreen Memorial Park in Colonie, New York.
