Sherwood Eddy Bulnes Jr., the son of Sherwood and Katherine (Donahue) Bulnes, was born on March 11, 1920, in Schenectady, New York. After graduating from Mont Pleasant High School in 1937, he attended Upsala College in East Orange, New Jersey.
Sherwood enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in February 1941. He held the rank of Corporal and served with Headquarters Company, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marines, 3rd Marine Division, FMF. On August 9, 1944, Sherwood was killed in combat during the Battle of Guam. He is buried in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Hawaii.
