Stanley C. Urban, the son of Albin and Anna (DeWitt) Urban, was born on March 4, 1932, in Schenectady, New York. He worked as a draftsman for the American Locomotive Company after completing his education at Mont Pleasant High School.

Stanley enlisted in the United States Navy Air Corps on March 6, 1951 and began his training in Jacksonville, Florida and Memphis, Tennessee. He held the rank of Petty Officer Second Class and served with the Utility Squadron VU-5. On February 5, 1954, Stanley was killed when the plane he was riding in crashed close to Japan. He is buried in St. Adalbert Cemetery, Schenectady, New York.
