Steve Stanislaus Czyzewski, the son of Kajetan and Bronislawa (Ostrowski) Czyzewski, was born on January 12, 1912, in Schenectady, New York. He was a graduate of the John Bigsbee School. Before enlisting in the military, he was a foreman and founding member of Edgewood Hose Co. 2, as well as an employee of the US Warehouse General Depot.
On January 7, 1941, Steve enlisted in the United States Army. He held the rank of Corporal and served with the 331st Infantry Regiment, 83rd Infantry Division. Steve lost his life in battle on July 25, 1944, in Colleville-sur-Mer, France. He is buried in the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial, France.
