World War II (1939-1945)

Thomas Allen Williams was born in Anniston, Alabama, on July 31, 1922. After 1940, he was living with his wife Ruth in the city of Schenectady and working as a mechanic.

On February 8, 1943, Thomas enlisted in the United States Navy. He served as an electrician’s mate first class on the USS Dorado. On October 12, 1943, the USS Dorado sank off the coast of Panama, resulting in Thomas being lost at sea. One theory regarding the sinking of the USS Dorado suggests it may have been caused by US aircraft. He is remembered on the Tablets of the Missing, East Coast Memorial in Manhattan, New York.

Light Lie The Sea Upon Thee

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning

We will remember them.

For the Fallen
