Thomas Iannuzzi was born in Fortanorosa, Avellino, Italy, in February 1896. It is unclear which date is accurate; the Veterans Administration Master Index lists his birth date as February 15, 1896, while his World War I Draft card shows it as February 17, 1896. When he filled out his draft card, Thomas was living in Brooklyn, New York, but when he enlisted in the army, he was living on Webster Street in Schenectady with his cousin Joseph.
On July 9, 1918, Thomas enlisted in the United States Army. He was sent overseas aboard the U.S. Army troopship USS America. He was a corporal serving with Company B, 315th Infantry Regiment. Thomas died on October 10, 1918, as a result of wounds sustained during combat in France. The location of his burial remains unknown.
