Thomas William Decoste, the son of Thomas and Edna (Anderson) Decoste, was born on May 20, 1921, in Schenectady, New York. He attended Central Park Junior High School and was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School. On September 5, 1939, Thomas enlisted in the United States Army and served as a paratrooper in Italy during WWll.
In April 1950, Thomas was sent to North Korea. He held the rank of Captain and served with 6148th Tactical Control Squadron. On October 18, 1950, Thomas went missing when his plane crashed near Pyongyang, North Korea. He is remembered at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Hawaii.
