Korean War (1950-1953)

Thomas William Decoste was born in Schenectady, New York, on May 20, 1921. He grew up in the City of Schenectady and attended Central Park Junior High School and was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School. On September 5, 1939, Thomas enlisted in the United States Army and served as a paratrooper in Italy during WWII.

In April 1950, Thomas was sent to North Korea. He was a captain serving with the 6148th Tactical Control Squadron. On October 18, 1950, Thomas went missing when his plane crashed near Pyongyang in North Korea. He is remembered at the Honolulu Memorial, Courts of the Missing in Hawaii.
