World War II (1939-1945)

Vibert Ostrander Fryer was born in Schenectady, New York, on March 31, 1914. He grew up in the city of Schenectady and graduated from Williston Academy in Easthampton, Massachusetts, in 1933. After that, he attended Union College, where he graduated in 1937, followed by the State Teachers College and Albany Law School.

 On December 13, 1940, Vibert enlisted in the United States Army. He was a second lieutenant serving with the 127th Infantry Regiment, 32nd Infantry Division. On December 29, 1942, Vibert was killed in action in Buna, New Guinea. He is buried in the Manila American Cemetery and Memorial in the Philippines.
