Vido J. Gaspara, the son of Philix and Rose (Rispoli) Gaspara, was born on April 17, 1922 in Schenectady, New York. He attended Draper High School and resided in Rotterdam.
On October 15, 1940, Vido enlisted in the United States Army. He held the rank of Private First Class and served with Company F, 105th Infantry Regiment, 27th Infantry Division. He had only ever been home once throughout his entire time of service. On July 12, 1944, during the Battle of Saipan, Vido was killed in combat. He is buried in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Schenectady, New York.
