World War II (1939-1945)

Vido J. Gaspara was born in Schenectady, New York, on April 17, 1922. He grew up in the town of Rotterdam in Schenectady County and was a student at Draper High School.

On October 15, 1940, Vido enlisted in the United States Army. He was a private first class serving with Company F, 105th Infantry Regiment, 27th Infantry Division. On July 12, 1944, during the Battle of Saipan, Vido was killed in combat; he had only been home once throughout his entire time of service. He is buried in St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Schenectady, New York.
