Clarence Jerome Bull was born in Rye, New York, on August 7, 1896. In 1915, he enrolled at Union College in Schenectady, where he earned his bachelor's degree in engineering on June 13, 1917. Shortly thereafter, he enlisted in the United States Army.
Clarence was a first lieutenant serving with Company H, 309th Infantry Regiment, 78th Infantry Division. On September 17, 1918, he was killed in battle in France. He is buried in the St. Mihiel American Cemetery and Memorial in France.
