Albert Edward Carmichael was born in Schenectady, New York, on December 12, 1886. After graduating from Union College, he continued on to Albany Law School to earn his law degree. Prior to joining the Army, Albert was practicing law in Schenectady.
In 1917, Albert enlisted in the United States Army and attended Camp Devens in Massachusetts for his basic training. He held the rank of Private First Class and served with Company A, General Headquarters, 310th Military Police. While on military police duty, Albert was shot and killed in Germany on January 10, 1919, by one of five American soldiers. He is buried in Vale Cemetery, Schenectady, New York.
*Albert was Union College's top tennis player when he graduated.
