Neil Joseph Lyons was born in Glens Falls, New York, on September 17, 1891. By 1916, he was living in Schenectady with his mother and stepfather. He worked for the General Electric Company before joining the military.
On May 10, 1918, Neil enlisted in the United States Army. He was assigned to Fort Hancock in New Jersey and held the rank of Sergeant. Neil died of pneumonia on October 17, 1918, at Fort Hancock. He is buried in St. Mary's Cemetery, Glens Falls, New York.
