Earl Wesley Maxson was born in Berlin, New York, on October 6, 1883. By 1912, he and his wife were living in the city of Schenectady.
On January 28, 1918, Earl enlisted in the United States Army. He was a first lieutenant serving with Company G, 105th Infantry Regiment, 27th Infantry Division. On May 17, 1918, he was sent overseas aboard the U.S. Army troopship USS President Grant. When he was killed in action on September 29, 1918, during the Meuse-Argonne Offensive, he was in charge of Company G. Earl is buried in the Somme American Cemetery and Memorial in France.
