Alfred L. Battaling was born in Schenectady, New York, on March 22, 1925. Before entering the military, he attended Mont Pleasant High School.
On April 7, 1943, Alfred enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps. He was a sergeant serving with the 728th Bomb Squadron. On January 7, 1945, Alfred was killed in action over Germany. He is buried in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Schenectady, New York.
