World War II (1939-1945)

Walter Eugene Bond Jr. was born in Oakfield, New York, on March 13, 1917. After earning a bachelor's and master's degree from the University of Rochester, he relocated to Schenectady, New York, where he worked for General Electric in the accounting department.

In September 1943, Walter enlisted in the United States Army. He was a private first class serving with the 141st Infantry Regiment, 36th Infantry Division. During the allied invasion of Rome on June 4, 1944, Walter was killed in action. He is buried in the Rome American Cemetery and Memorial in Italy.
