Joseph J. Caprara, the son of Dominick and Giacomina (Vespaziani) Caprara, was born on January 29, 1920. After graduating from Mont Pleasant High School, Joseph relocated to Massachusetts where he began working for his uncle.
In 1939, Joseph enlisted in the United States Army. He held the rank of Technician Fourth Grade and served with the 28th Infantry Regiment, 8th Infantry Division. On his journey home to be released from the Army on June 11, 1945, Joseph fell from a truck. On June 12, 1945, the next day, he passed away. He is buried in St. Cyril and Method Cemetery, Rotterdam, New York.
