William Aloyisius"Al" Connelly Jr. was born in Schenectady, New York, on July 24, 1917. From about 1925 until 1933, he was living in Troy, New York, with his family; he was back in the city of Schenectady by 1934 and was a student at Mont Pleasant High School. Before entering the military, he was a restaurant manager.
In 1941, William enlisted in the United Army Air Corps. He was a corporal serving with the 2nd AAF. On February 7, 1945, he was killed aboard a B-24 Flying Fortress while traveling to an Italian battle zone. He is buried in the Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna, New York.
