Allan W. Haverly, the son of William and Agnes Haverly, was born on March 6, 1919, in Schenectady New York. He joined Boy Scout Troop 31 and received his diploma from Nott Terrace High School in 1936.
On October 15, 1940, Allan enlisted in the United States Army and began his training at Fort McClellan in Alabama. He held the rank of First Sergeant and was part of Company H, 105th Infantry Regiment, 27th Infantry Division. In March 1942, he was sent overseas, and served in Hawaii until June 1944. On July 9, 1944, Allan died as a result of wounds he sustained during the Battle of Saipan. He is buried in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Colonie, New York.
