Harold Heckler, the son of Ruben and Julia (Dadez) Heckler, was born on May 4, 1923, in Clifton Park, New York, and by 1930, he and his family were residing in Glenville. Prior to joining the military, Harold was a landscaper.
On January 12, 1943, Harold enlisted in the United States Army. He served with the 319th Infantry Regiment, 80th Infantry Division, and held the rank of Private First Class. On February 13, 1945, Harold was killed in battle at a river crossing near Wallendorf, Germany. He is buried in the Henri Chapelle American Cemetery and Memorial, Belgium.
