World War II (1939-1945)

John Joseph Hudecek was born in Schenectady, New York, on August 17, 1917. While the rest of his family relocated back to Czechoslovakia, he remained in Schenectady living on Crane Street and working as a carpenter. 

In March 1941, John enlisted in the United States Army and remained stationed in England until 1943. He was a private first class serving with the 28th Infantry Regiment, 8th Infantry Division. On July 9, 1944, John was killed in battle in France. He is buried in the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial in France.
