Joseph English Kehoe, the son of Hugh and Anna (Walsh) Kehoe, was born on November 21, 1912, in Troy, New York. By 1920, he was residing in Rotterdam, New York with his family. He was a security guard for the American Locomotive Company after graduating from Draper High School. When Joseph entered the military, he was working at the Conklingville Dam in Hadley, New York. 

On April 16, 1942, Joseph enlisted in the United States Army and attended Fort Knox, Kentucky, for his basic training. He held the rank of Private First Class and served with the 44th Infantry Battalion, 6th Armored Division. On February 9, 1945, while attempting to reach a wounded soldier in Germany, Joseph was killed by German machine gun fire. He is buried in the Luxembourg American Cemetery and Memorial, Luxembourg.

Joseph’s brother John was also killed during World War ll; they are buried side by side in the Luxembourg American Cemetery and Memorial.
