Marshall Lawrence Kennedy, the son of William and Mildred Kennedy, was born on February 9, 1925, in Saranac Lake, New York. He moved with his family to Schenectady and attended Central Park Junior High School and Vocational High School. Before joining the army, he worked at the Plath Service Station.

Marshall enlisted in the United States Army in March 1943 and was deployed overseas in August 1943. He held the rank of Private and served with the 20th Chemical Battalion. On January 21, 1944, Marshall was killed in combat in Italy. He is buried in the Sicily-Rome American Cemetery and Memorial, Italy.
