Frederick Paul Lockwenz, the son of Paul and Anna (Druzba) Lockwenz, was born on August 20, 1925 in Schenectady, New York. He went to Mont Pleasant High School, attended Vocational High School where he studied aviation mechanics, and worked at the Army Service Forces Depot.
On April 6, 1943, Frederick enlisted in the United States Navy. He held the rank of Seaman Second Class and was aboard the USS Independence. During the Battle of Tarawa on November 20, 1943, Frederick was wounded and died on November 23, 1943. He is buried in the Evergreen Memorial Park, Colonie, New York.
