Clifton Frederick Mott, the son of John and Leona (DeLaMater) Mott, was born on December 9, 1905, in Mariaville, New York. By 1925, he was residing in Niskayuna with his family. He worked at Craig School as a custodian.

On March 17, 1943, Clifton enlisted in the United States Army. He held the rank of Technical Sergeant and served with the 204th Engineer Combat Battalion. On March 20, 1945, Clifton died from wounds received during combat in Germany. He is buried in the Luxembourg American Cemetery and Memorial, Luxembourg.
