World War II (1939-1945)

George Edward Palmer was born in Schenectady, New York, on March 26, 1923. He grew up in the city of Schenectady and graduated from Mont Pleasant High School in 1941. Before entering the military, he worked for General Electric.

On January 5, 1943, George enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps. He began his training as an aviation cadet in Santa Ana, California, and then went on to Amarillo, Texas, for his advanced training. He was a sergeant serving with the 367th Bomb Squadron, 306th Bomb Group, Heavy. On October 18, 1944, at Coventry, England, George was involved in a dangerous circumstance that resulted in his death (died non-battle).  He is buried in St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Schenectady, New York.
