World War II (1939-1945)

Robert Francis Patten was born in Schenectady, New York, in March 1915. He was born on March 2, according to the New York State Birth Index, while his WWII Draft Card states March 7. After graduating from Mont Pleasant High School and Cornell University, he moved to Binghamton, New York, to work for the General Ice Cream Corporation.

In June 1942, Robert enlisted in the United States Army. He was a first lieutenant serving with the 11th Airborne Division. On February 7, 1945, during the Battle of Luzon, Robert was killed in combat. He is buried in the Manila American Cemetery in the Philippines.
