World War II (1939-1945)

John Julian Rutkowski was born in Schenectady, New York, on February 18, 1912. He grew up in the city of Schenectady, and before enlisting in the military, he worked for General Electric.

On November 9, 1943, John enlisted in the United States Army. He was a technician fifth grade serving with the 261st Infantry Regiment, 65th Infantry Division. On March 18, 1945, John was killed in battle in Luxembourg. He is buried in the Luxembourg American Cemetery and Memorial in Luxembourg.
