World War II (1939-1945)

John Doherty Schuyler Jr. was born in Hagaman, New York, on September 28, 1914. By 1920, he was living in the city of Schenectady. He was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School and Villanova University. Before entering the military, he worked for General Electric.

In April, 1942, John enlisted in the United States Army. He was a sergeant serving with the 68th Tank Battalion, 6th Armored Division. On January 8, 1945, John went missing during the Battle of the Bulge. He is remembered at the Ardennes American Cemetery and Memorial in Belgium.
