World War II (1939-1945)

James Vincent Senese was born in Schenectady, New York, on April 7, 1915. He grew up in the city of Schenectady on Santa Fe Street and graduated from Mont Pleasant High School in 1934, where he was a member of the band, orchestra, and football team. After graduating from high school, he received a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering at Louisiana State University. Before entering the military, he worked for General Electric.

On January 27, 1941, James enlisted in the United States Army. He was a corporal serving with Company C, 106th Infantry Regiment, 27th Infantry Division. James was killed on June 30, 1944, during the Battle of Saipan. He is buried in St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Schenectady, New York.

James' gravestone says Private, although there is a promotion certificate from February 1942 stating that he was promoted to Corporal.
