World War II (1939-1945)

Raymond Francis Sexton was born in Whitehall, New York, on March 25, 1914. By 1920, he was living in the city of Schenectady, where he attended Vocational High School and worked for the Planter's Peanut Company. He was well-known in the area's musical circles and had his own band.

In February 1941, Raymond enlisted in the United States Army. He completed his basic training in Dallas, Texas. He was a technician fifth grade serving in the 105th Infantry Regiment, 27th Infantry Division. In August 1942, he was shipped overseas, and on August 9, 1944, Raymond died of wounds sustained during the Battle of Saipan. He is buried in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Colonie, New York.
