World War II (1939-1945)

George Smith was born in Albany, New York, on February 8, 1922. By 1925, he was living in the city of Schenectady with his family. In 1942, he graduated from Mont Pleasant High School, and after graduation, he worked for General Electric. 

On October 14, 1942, George enlisted in the United States Army. He was a private serving with Company B, 397th Infantry Regiment, 100th Infantry Division. On November 15, 1944, George was killed in battle in France. He is buried in the Evergreen Memorial Park in Colonie, New York.
