Daniel Francis Splann, the son of Daniel and Katherine (Farrell) Splann, was born on November 18, 1925, in Frankfort, New York. He attended Mont Pleasant High School.
In November 1942, Daniel enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and underwent his basic training at Parris Island in South Carolina. He held the rank of Private First Class and served with Company D, 1st Battalion, 22nd Marine Regiment. On February 19, 1944, Daniel was wounded while serving in the Marshall Islands; he passed away on February 21, 1944, as a result of his wounds. He is buried in the Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna, New York.
