Robert Joseph Whalen, the son of Robert and Theresa (Busteed) Whalen, was born on February 21, 1918, in Schenectady, New York. In 1937, he received his diploma from Nott Terrace High School. He was an employee of General Electric.
In 1941, Robert enlisted in the United States Army. He was a member of the 4th Infantry Division and held the rank of Corporal. Robert died on February 16, 1945, while serving in Luxembourg. He is buried in the Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna, New York.
