John Edward Murray was born in Schenectady, New York, on March 31, 1932. He grew up in the city of Schenectady and graduated from Nott Terrace High School.
John enlisted in the United States Navy. He was a petty officer third class, serving on the destroyer USS William M. Wood (DD-715). John and his brother Richard were killed in a car accident on Blue Barns Road in Burnt Hills, New York, while he was home on leave. He is buried in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Saratoga Springs, New York.
