Vietnam War (1955-1975)

Martin "Marty" Joseph Cribbs was born in Schenectady, New York, on December 31, 1948.  He grew up in the Town of Rotterdam, Schenectady County, New York. After graduating from Schalmont High School in 1967, he started working for the Custom Upholstery Company.

On May 28, 1968, Martin was drafted into the United States Army. He completed his basic training at Fort Dix, New Jersey. He was a sergeant serving with Company A, 2nd Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division. On November 14, 1968, he started his tour of duty in Vietnam. Martin was killed in a tank while en route to Kon Tum Province, South Vietnam, on October 25, 1969. He is buried in Sts. Cyril and Method Cemetery, Rotterdam, New York.
