James Timothy Randolph, the son of Robert and Laura (Williams) Randolph, was born on January 12, 1950, in Keene Valley, New York. He spent the majority of his life in Schenectady and graduated from Linton High School.

On his 17th birthday, James enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served in Vietnam for five months. He held the rank of Lance Corporal and served with Company B, 1st Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division. James died on August 10, 1968, as a result of numerous fragmentation wounds from enemy grenades during Operation Mameluke Thrust. That day, his company lost eight men. James is buried at the Niskayuna Reformed Church Cemetery, Niskayuna, New York.
