World War II (1939-1945)

Robert Clarendon Maxon was born in Berlin, New York, on March 9, 1909. He was living in Schenectady, New York, in 1915; between 1920 and 1930, he returned to Berlin, New York, before moving back to Schenectady, New York, in 1931. He graduated from Union College, where he was a track star. Robert received his medical degree from Columbia University.

On August 13, 1942, Robert enlisted in the United States Navy. He was a flight surgeon with the rank of first lieutenant. Robert was sent to a San Diego, California, naval hospital. He died suddenly on April 28, 1944, just before being deployed overseas. He is buried in the Center Berlin Baptist Cemetery, Berlin, New York.

*Robert has a ballpark named after him, and his office on Nott Street in Schenectady, New York, is still standing.
