Edward James McCullough, the son of Leon and Elizabeth (Dunn) McCullough, was born on January 16, 1923, in Moria, Franklin County, New York. He graduated from Moria High School in 1941 and went to work for the General Electric Company in Schenectady. 

In February 1944, Edward enlisted in the United States Army and was trained at Camp Upton in New York and Camp Blanding in Florida. He was a Private First Class in Company C, 9th Armored Infantry Battalion, 6th Armored Division. Edward went overseas on January 4, 1945, and was serving with General Patton's Third Army when he was injured on March 26, 1945, in Germany. On May 15, 1945, he died from his wounds in a hospital in France; he had been wounded in the back and abdomen.  Edward is buried in St. Mary's Cemetery, Brushton, Franklin County, New York.
