Anthony Palkovic was born in New York State, in 1925. He was living with his family in the city of Schenectady by the 1930 census. He attended McKinley Junior High and graduated from Mont Pleasant High School in 1943, where he played fullback on the football team.
On April 13, 1943, Anthony enlisted in the United States Navy. He completed his basic training at Sampson Naval Base and thereafter attended an electrical school in Detroit, Michigan. On August 2, 1944, while ready to sail on the USS Burrows, he died and was taken to a naval hospital in Brooklyn; the cause of death remains unknown. Anthony is buried at Sts. Cryril and Method Cemetery in Rotterdam, New York.
