World War II (1939-1945)

Joseph Terry Rushing was born in Birmingham, Alabama, on April 13, 1920. He grew up and received his education in Alabama before relocating to Schenectady following his marriage. 

Joseph enlisted in the United States Navy in 1938, and after service in Panama, he joined the United States Navy Air Corps. On September 21, 1944, the plane Joseph was on board shredded and crashed over the Pacific Ocean while on a torpedo mission; he was never found. He is remembered at the Honolulu Memorial, Courts of the Missing, in Hawaii.
