World War II (1939-1945)

Albert Francis Whitford Jr. was born in New Jersey, on March 30, 1922. It's unclear why Albert was living in Schenectady after 1940; his sister Ruby was living there with her husband. According to the 1940 census, Albert's occupation was mechanic.

Albert enlisted in the United States Navy. On May 13, 1945, he died while on active duty for unclear reasons. He may have died during the Battle of Okinawa, as he was originally buried in the Zamami Shima Cemetery on the Ryukyu Islands, which is linked to Okinawa. He is buried in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, in Hawaii.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning

We will remember them.

For the Fallen
