William Carson was 27 years old when he enlisted in the Union Army on September 26, 1861, and was mustered in on September 30, 1861. He served with the 91st New York Infantry, Company G, and held the rank of Private. William was shot during the siege of Port Hudson (May 22, 1863 - July 9, 1863). He died from his gunshot wound in the Regimental Hospital on May 27, 1863. It's assumed that he is buried in the Port Hudson National Cemetery, Louisiana.
