About

Alexander Serva (Gaden), the son of Benedict and Ida (Plispis) Serva, was born on May 3, 1899, in Schenectady, New York.

On May 21, 1917, Alexander enlisted as a fictional person in the United States Marine Corps. It appears that he used the name Jackson and a false last name, Gaden. Given that he was 18 years old when he enlisted, it is unclear why he used false names. He might not have wanted his family to be aware of his enlistment. Alexander held the rank of Private and was stationed at Norfolk, Virginia. On March 24, 1918, Alexander passed away from pneumonia while serving in Virginia. He is buried in the St. Casimir Cemetery, Amsterdam, New York.
