Alfred L. Battaling, the son of John and Christine Battaling, was born on March 22, 1925, in Schenectady, New York. Before enlisting, he attended Mont Pleasant High School.
On April 7, 1943, Alfred enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps. He held the rank of Sergeant and served with the 728th Bomb Squadron. On January 7, 1945, Alfred was killed in action over Germany. He is buried in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Schenectady, New York.
