World War II (1939-1945)

Allan W. Haverly was born in Schenectady, New York, on March 6, 1919. He grew up in the city of Schenectady, was a Boy Scout with Troop 31, and graduated from Nott Terrace High School in 1936.

On October 15, 1940, Allan enlisted in the United States Army. He completed his basic training at Fort McClellan in Alabama. He was a first sergeant serving with Company H, 105th Infantry Regiment, 27th Infantry Division. In March 1942, he was sent overseas, and served in Hawaii until June 1944. Allan was wounded during the Battle of Saipan and died on July 9, 1944. He is buried in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Colonie, New York.
