Angelo James Puorto, the son of Sabatino and Caterina (Marzio) Puorto, was born on August 20, 1913, in Schenectady, New York. For the American Locomotive Company, he worked as a welder.
On March 14, 1941, Angelo enlisted in the United States Army. He held the rank of Private First Class and served with the 119th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division. Before being sent to Germany, Angelo was stationed in France, Belgium and Holland. Angelo lost his life in battle on October 4, 1944, close to Rimburg, Germany. He is buried in the Henri Chapelle American Cemetery and Memorial, Belgium.
