Anthony Harasimowicz, the son of Casimer and Tillie (Lukaszewicz) Harasimowicz, was born on November 19, 1912, in Schenectady, New York. He was a student at Schenectady High School.
Anthony enlisted in the United States Navy in 1932 and served in a number of locations throughout the world. He held the rank of Chief Electrician's Mate and was aboard the USS S-44. The Shimushu-class escort Ishigaki assaulted the USS S-44 during the night of October 7, 1943. The submarine was instructed to dive, but it was unable to do so. Anthony perished along with the submarine after taking further strikes. He is remembered at Sts. Cyril and Method Cemetery, Rotterdam, New York.
