World War II (1939-1945)

Anthony Harasimowicz was born in Schenectady, New York, on November 19, 1912. He grew up in the city of Schenectady and was a student at Schenectady High School.

Anthony enlisted in the United States Navy in 1932 and served in a number of locations throughout the world. He was a chief electricians mate and was aboard the U.S.S. S-44. The Shimushu-class escort Ishigaki attacked the U.S.S. S-44 during the night of October 7, 1943. The submarine was ordered to dive but was unable to do so. Anthony lost his life along with the submarine after sustaining additional hits. He is remembered at Sts. Cyril and Method Cemetery in Rotterdam, New York.
