Arthur Frederick Friday, the son of John and Mary Friday, was born on January 30, 1925, in Westfield, New Jersey. In 1930, he moved to Schenectady with his family. He participated in the cappella chorus and graduated from Mont Pleasant High School. Arthur spent a year working in the drafting division of the General Electric Company prior to enlisting. 

In June 1943, Arthur enlisted in the United States Army. After completing his training at Fort Bragg in North Carolina, he was deployed overseas in October 1944. Arthur held the rank of Sergeant and served with the 397th Infantry Regiment. Arthur died in combat on December 13, 1944, in France. He is buried in the Evergreen Memorial Park, Colonie, New York.
