Arthur Frederick Friday was born in Westfield, New Jersey, on January 30, 1925. By 1930, he was living in the city of Schenectady with his family. He graduated from Mont Pleasant High School, where he was a member of the cappella choir. Arthur spent a year working in the drafting division of General Electric before entering the military.
In June 1943, Arthur enlisted in the United States Army. After completing his basic training at Fort Bragg in North Carolina, he was deployed overseas in October 1944. He was a sergeant serving with the 397th Infantry Regiment. Arthur died in combat on December 13, 1944, in France. He is buried in the Evergreen Memorial Park in Colonie, New York.
